Our vision
is to inspire people to attempt something different and produce an item, garden or personal article of value that will elicit not only a sense of pride but an atmosphere of unmistakable tranquility every time ones views this handiwork. Most importantly don’t concern yourself as to negative, unhelpful commentary. Just give something a go. We would love to view your attempts and final products.
Where it all started
Uniquely rock was originally formulated in order to demonstrate and encourage viewers to economically create that special item, bonsai or decoration for their home and garden. We have tried to document the more important aspects of our journey through processes and videos, showing that anyone can own magnificent creations and which are not only limited to magazines, palatial homes or those with resources.
We stumbled across the concept of bespoke home and garden décor really by accident when in our late fifties we built a home and required personalized items that would elicit a sense of peace and harmony whereas simultaneously and temporarily removing ones attentiveness away from the customary intrusions we so often become fixated on. It is furthermore not solely the definitive result that provides this therapy but the creative process involved in shaping a work of art/composition with pride that is ordinarily not available in traditional outlets. Unfortunately as with everything in life, a tad of hard work, innovation and persistence is required however, it’s a progression and time is for the most part irrelevant. One merely formulates a vision and slowly ‘chips’ away as with molding a chunk of clay until the light at the end of the tunnel becomes a reality. Almost all raw materials were acquired either for free or at a very reduced price from kitchen counter off cuts, rocks from quarries or beside rivers or even discarded items that have been thrown away. We purposely only utilized hand tools in order to demonstrate that mechanization is not at all essential in constructing an article of beauty.
Regardless of whether ones resides in an expansive estate or small concrete box, the ability to transform your environment (and of course thoughts) into something that calms the spirit and redirects focus and energy is well within everyone’s reach. It doesn’t have to entail sizeable tooling, space or considerable expense but could simply involve nurturing a small plant grown from a seed into a unique formation using elementary objects.
If noise is a problem I’m sure you can find a spot out of town, on an adjacent farm. Talk to the owner first and invite them to participate, form a hobby group and see what you can produce.
